I’ve been talking to an Estate Agent/Realtor in Kent & he said “you may not know this, but carrying out a renovation on your kitchen can add 5% – 15% to your property’s value.”

43% of homeowners remodel because they ‘cannot stand’ their current kitchen. If you cannot stand your kitchen, and do not want to remodel, you will just have to move house!

If you want your kitchen to be perfect for prospective buyers, follow our tips below, or send me a message or call me for a chat

Remember that trends come and go, so select the finishes that you love & make you happy regardless of what’s trending.

Consider a ceiling-mounted extractor
If you have a hob on your island, your only choice for venting is usually an extractor placed over the island but this then becomes a focal point which often obscures sightlines. Nowadays many designers specify ceiling-mounted extractors to alleviate this issue.

Select a larger cooker hood design
You could consider an oversize cooker hood. A larger model becomes an umbrella that can capture more grease and odour than one exactly the size of your hob. Plus it increases the distance between the cabinets next to it which visually creates more openness.

 Move the warming drawer up
In larger kitchens the warming drawer was routinely located beneath the double oven.  This made functional sense, since it was near the ovens but over time, many people stopped using them as they were so low & accessibility was a challenge.

Most designer these days say it’s all about function.  So… why not place your warming drawer at worktop-height close to your cooking appliances?

If you’re opting for a single oven instead of a double oven you could position a warming drawer directly below it.

 Keep Hardware Updated
Remaining up-to-date with the latest permanently fixtures such as ovens, handles, or knobs adds an extra noticeable touch to your kitchen.

Replace the Taps
Investing £90 into a modernised tap is a negligible investment when considering how often it may be used by yourself or a future resident.

Cover or Replace Countertops &/or Cabinet Doors
Spending time renovating your kitchen countertops refreshes those overused tops and maintains a modern look for your space.

Buy comfy bar stools
There are many bar stool styles to choose from, but if you plan on eating meals at the island, consider a stool that swivels with a back. If your back is supported you will enjoy sitting there for longer. Bar stools that swivel also often take up less room.

Place a Rug on the floor.
As simple as it may seem, filling the void in the center of your kitchen floor will add a new layer of texture and depth to your kitchen.

Add a comfy sofa
If you have room it is a lovely idea to add a cosy sofa then friends & family can sit with a drink & talk to you in comfort whilst you cook
